Professional Tax – Certificate of enrollment – (PTEC)
Every person including LLP but excluding firms (but including each partner) and Hindu Undivided family (but including each major coparcener), GST Registered Entities engaged in any business or profession shall be liable to pay to the Maharashtra State Government a professional Tax ranging mostly Rs 2500 per year:
Provided also that, a person who is liable to pay tax has remained un-enrolled; then, his liability to pay tax under this section for the periods for which he has remained so un-enrolled shall not exceed:
- 4 years, in case where PTEC is granted on or after the 1st April 2017,
- 8 years, in any other case
Professional Tax –Certificate of Registration – (PTRC)
Every employer shall obtain a certificate of registration from the prescribed authority in the prescribed manner.
Every employer or person required to obtain a certificate of registration or enrolment shall, within thirty days of his becoming liable to pay tax
Where an employer, liable to registration has failed to apply for such certificate within the required time, the prescribed authority may, after giving him a reasonable opportunity of being heard, impose penalty of rupees five for each day of delay in case of such employer.
